Clean Heart Ministries holds a Biblical view on healing. James 5 says that if anyone is sick let them have the elders of the church come and pray over them and anoint them with oil. We believe that "sick" can mean physical, emotional, and spiritual illness. We believe there are many facets to healing, including confession, education, prayer, forgiveness, and restoration.
Clean Heart Ministries helps individuals overcome sexual and relational brokenness. Sexual brokenness can best be defined as any form of sex other than between a man and woman within the bounds of marriage. We believe that sex within marriage should be held sacred for bringing bonding, intimacy, pleasure procreation, and building oneness between the man and woman. Sexual brokenness can be male homosexuality, lesbianism, and sex between a man and woman outside of marriage. The healing of sexual brokenness has to do with the emotional and spiritual well-being of the individual. We see God healing from the inside out. Some may call it inner healing.
How does Clean Heart Ministries administer healing? We begin assisting our clients in knowing the truth so that the truth will set them free. The truth is God’s true intention for sex, His purpose for two genders, and how males and females relate and complement one another. We want our clients to stop believing in lies about their sexuality. God does not create homosexuals or sex addicts. He creates men and women. Some may become confused and deceived in their sexuality. We get the clients to stop naming themselves with false names.
Since we believe that most sexual brokenness begins early on with the individual's childhood and early environment, we help the client understand that Jesus the healer can go back into the past and begin to heal false beliefs, false perceptions, and painful experiences. We believe in helping our clients get to the root causes with their sexual brokenness. For healing to take place, we help our clients come into a healthy view of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We help them to know God in a deep and personal way. A phrase that we have adopted and often use is, "If you want healing, you have got to get to know the Healer."
Once our clients are able to look at their past and whatever misery and pain they experienced, we then help them come into a place of forgiveness and restoration, not just between them and God but between them and others as well - those they have sinned against and those who have sinned against them.
We pray for and with our clients. We help them to understand the consequences of sexual sins. We help them understand the effects of generational sins in their lives and assist them in breaking those sins and generational curses. We also pray with them to break soul ties.
At Clean Heart Ministries we provide education to our clients in helping them deal with their sexual brokenness in a godly way. We use a variety of programs and ministry tools. We have groups for anger management, boundaries, Bible studies, 12 steps, and Living Waters. We also use a one-on-one approach for our clients in mentoring or discipleship. We offer accountability to our clients.
Clean Heart Ministries provides a safe place where people can talk openly and honestly about their situations and sexual brokenness. They have the freedom to confess their sins and shortcomings. Our approach is not to condemn a person but offer grace where grace is needed, love where love is needed, and discipline where discipline is needed. We believe that God will meet each person where they are emotionally and spiritually.
Clean Heart Ministries believes that healing from sexual brokenness is a process. As the Christian walks out sanctification so must the Christian walk out his/her healing? A person's sexual identity is deeply rooted so we believe it takes time for wholeness to start to take root in one's life. We believe God is the healer, so the healing is up to Him. We know that God can instantly deliver a person from sexual brokenness if He so chooses. However, it has been our experience to see healing from sexual brokenness being a process. This process helps the individual to mature as a Christian, to persevere through difficulties and temptation, and to achieve a deeper and closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
Clean Heart Ministries will use Deliverance healing in certain situations, but we do it with caution, bringing understanding to the client so they are not left feeling hopeless and a failure if all their broken sexual desires and temptations did not leave them once the deliverance takes place. We help them understand the process of healing that often needs to take place which will render true and significant change and spiritual growth.
Clean Heart Ministries understands that it is only one vehicle God uses in the healing process. We believe God wants to use His church as another vehicle.
With most of our directors and volunteers being over comers themselves, we know it is essential for those who are overcoming homosexuality to establish healthy same-sex role models with people who are secure in their sexual identities and who have close personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
Clean Heart Ministries knows that sometimes the client may need professional Christian counseling. The directors of the ministry are members of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). We can make referrals for those clients who need professional counseling.
